2024 Fall Tournament Highlights

This fall was bustling for athletes and judges alike. The NCR hosted their fall shiai at the SKM dojo, the WTKF organized the World Championships in Lima, Peru, the University of Minnesota held their fall tournament, and Madison also hosted their fall tournament. Below are photo and video links to these events.

2024 WTKF World Championship

The World Traditional Karate Foundation (WTKF) World Championship, held every two years, took place in Lima, Peru. This event brought together the best athletes and judges from around the world in traditional karate. The participants enjoyed the judging seminar in preparation for the World Championships, where they made new friendships and rekindled old ones from past events. The weather in Lima was in the 60s both at night and during the day, with plenty of clouds. The host country provided an excellent venue for the event, along with great hotel accommodations and transportation.

2024 Fall U of MN Tournament

Sensei Trung Le hosted his annual 2024 Fall University of Minnesota tournament. The event was well attended by his club, the University of Wisconsin club, SKM, and St. Paul dojo. The tournament attracted many new young athletes from the region. The judges did an excellent job managing the rings and providing valuable feedback to the athletes. Sensei Le and his club organized a fantastic tournament. Everyone had a great time participating in or watching the events.

2024 Fall NCR shiai

NCR held their annual fall shiai at the SKM Minneapolis dojo on October 19, 2024. The athletes enjoyed competing against each other and received valuable feedback from the judges on their performances.

Terrific turnout and competition for the Traditional Karate North Central Region Fall Shiai. There were participants and judges from Shotokan Karate Minnesota, Midwest Karate St Paul, Traditional Karate-do Academy at UMN, Madison Japanese Karate Club, and even four visiting karateka from India.

2024 Fall Madison tournament

The Madison Japanese Karate Club (MJKC) held a tournament on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Madison West High School in Madison, WI. The event was well attended by MJKC, the University of Minnesota club, and SKM. The judges and athletes enjoyed demonstrating their knowledge and abilities at the tournament. These events bring together like-minded individuals with strong desires to excel in Shotokan karate. New friendships were made, and old friendships were renewed.
